How does one write about a work of art? Cameron Macintosh's touring production of The Phantom Of The Opera is exactly that and brought the house down at the Birmingham Hippodrome last night. The 19th March is apt for the final press night of the current tour as the show is also marking it's 11,000th performance in the West End. That itself shows the incredible draw that Phantom has some 27 years on. (more...)

On the occasion of the amazing 25th Anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera on Broadway last night, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber (who sadly was unable to travel to New York because of a back procedure) and the show's original ‘Christine' Sarah Brightman sat down together in London this week to reflect on the show's genesis and incredible success. The longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom Of The Opera, directed by Harold Prince and produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Company, Inc., will welcome Broadway and West End star Sierra Boggess to the New York cast this month for a limited engagement as leading lady Christine Daaé. Ms. Boggess, whose long history with the musical began when she originated the role in the revised Las Vegas production in 2006, has been specifically chosen by the creative team to join the cast in time for the production becoming the first Broadway show ever to celebrate 25 Years. Principal cast changes have been announced for the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom Of The Opera, the longest-running show in Broadway history. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. and directed by Harold Prince, the musical phenomenon is in its unprecedented 24th year in New York, playing at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street). National Tour star Trista Moldovan makes her Broadway debut when she assumes the leading role of Christine Daaé beginning Friday, December 9. To mark its 25th Anniversary year, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh present 'The Phantom Of The Opera' in a fully-staged, lavish production, set in the sumptuous Victorian splendour of the Royal Albert Hall with a cast and orchestra of over 200. Now audiences around the world are invited to join the celebration on Sunday October 2nd when the event is beamed live via satellite to cinemas across the globe.
