59E59 Theaters is presenting New Golden Age by Karen Hartman, part of the inaugural VOLT Festival at 59E59. Presented by Primary Stages and directed by Jade King Carroll (Proof of Love), New Golden Age opened May 11 for a run through June 9, 2022.

Recently, CATF supporters gathered to hear one of playwright Chisa Hutchinson's latest pieces, a radio drama that was co-produced with the Vermont's Dorset Theatre Festival. Over a fine, inventively crafted lunch at one of Shepherdstown's newest restaurants, Alma Bea (near the railroad tracks, just a couple blocks from the town's main drag), we were all given headphones and were instantly immersed in a tense, emotionally-wrenching drama 'Redeemed.'

59E59 Theaters has announced the complete casts & creative teams for the inaugural VOLT Festival at 59E59. New Golden Age begins previews on April 28, 2022, in Theater B and opens May 11 for a run through June 9, 2022. Goldie, Max & Milk begins previews May 1, 2022, in Theater C and opens May 8 for a run through June 4, 2022.

The play is the fruit of the Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s New Play Development Program. While other challenging pieces tackle racism or sexism, this one digs into ageism, specifically for women. 

 Milwaukee Rep will present the world premiere presentation of New Age by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith in the Stiemke Studio March 22 – May 1, 2022.  New Age follows four women at different junctures in life as they contend with their sexuality, insecurities and legacies.
