As you must all be aware from the official reports being issued by the authorities in regard to the recovery of Beach Haven, the effects of Hurricane Sandy has placed Long Beach Island in a very sensitive environmental status which will not be abated in the near future.
In regards to Surflight Theatre, the restoration officials will be unable to provide the services necessary to support the needs of the public until the infrastructure of plumbing and natural gas can be repaired and updated. Included in these truncated services are telephone and high speed internet that operate our box office. All of this could also cause a delay in the reopening of restaurants and their ability to provide the necessary sanitation for your comfort.
Therefore Surflight must regretfully reschedule its production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas until next year. The team is saddened by this sudden turn in natural events, but knows that its decision is a good one in order to keep audiences safe and focused on the fiscal demands of helping Long Beach Island, NJ, make a full recovery in time for the 2013 season.
Surflight is glad to report that its educational touring theatre company, Surflight To Go is on the road as scheduled having already performed at two schools this week! They have a very busy month ahead of them and bookings are brisk for the spring!
Surflight is currently planning a Christmas Gala Celebration to benefit Surflight Theatre and the Town of Beach Haven. It will be a joyful production with holiday music and an audience sing-along. Details about the location and dates will be coming soon.
As stated previously, Surflight is still awaiting permission to return to the theatre to begin the clean-up process as well as access our ticketing and communications systems. For those individuals and groups who hold tickets to Barefoot in the Park, Die Fledermaus and White Christmas, the theatre will be contacting you in the very near future about your options for exchanging your tickets. Each of your accounts will need to be processed individually. Due to the volume of orders, the theatre asks for your patience, as this will take some time to complete. Surflight will issue another statement as soon as the telephones and box office are reinstated by our communications providers.
Yes, Surflight can still make this the best Christmas ever, by working together and holding the true meaning of the holidays in our hearts—all-the-year-long.
