Titanic plays from July 11 – 29In 2012, the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the legendary glamour ship Titanic on her maiden voyage, OPTC is thrilled to be producing the Broadway musical Titanic, winner of 5 Tony awards including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score. With lavish costumes from the original Broadway production, a beautiful intriguing set designed by David Esler and wonderful musical direction by Michael McAsssey, you will be transported to the gentile era portrayed these days on the very popular Downtown Abbey which began its very first season with the sinking of the Titanic. Where traveling this fabulous ship on its maiden voyage meant a stunning crossing among the very rich and famous of the time, a chance to go to the New World to find your fortune, to follow your destiny or to partake of a social extravaganza among friends.  Sadly at the end of the day, all found out that money and class and all the dreams in the world meant nothing to the power of the sea when it overtook the sadly crippled “unsinkable” ocean liner.

Directed by Paula Hammons Sloan, whose Directing credits include numerous National Tours as well as numerous Broadway style musicals for Casino showrooms in Atlantic City, Reno, Florida and the West Coast, this musical is sure to move you with rich orchestrations and a fabulous theatrical experience.  Ms. Sloan will also be overseeing this production when it embarks on its National Tour in the fall, produced by Boebe Productions and representation by Windwood Theatricals, www.windwoodtheatricals.com.  We invite you all to see it now in Barnegat for an exciting summer event in the Premiere Season of Ocean Professional Theatre Company before it leaves on tour. OPTC’s Titanic is one of seven great musicals of the season.
