Skyline Theatre Company Awards Scholarship to Tenafly Senior

Robyn Michele Frank of Tenafly, a senior in the theatre division of the Bergen County Academies' Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, has been selected to receive the 2010 Harry K. Berkheiser Jr. Scholarship. Skyline Theatre Company created this $1000.00 cash scholarship to support students of Bergen County who will be majoring in theatre, television, film, or communications. Named for New Jersey educator and founding STC member Harry K. Berkheiser Jr., this cash scholarship is awarded annually to a Bergen County high school senior who has a true passion for and will be furthering his or her higher education in Theatre, Television, Film, or Communications. Ms. Frank will be attending the Honors College at Pace University's New York City campus in the fall, majoring in Musical Theatre Performance. She has studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York City and at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Michigan. A member of the Bergen County Academies Chapter of the National Honor Society, Ms. Frank also serves as Theater Council Representative for the 2010 Class Council. She will receive her award at Skyline's annual fund raising benefit Broadway for the Arts on Sunday April 18th at the ballroom in Biagio's Restaurant in Paramus.

"We are thrilled that we had such a wonderfully diverse pool of applicants this year," says STC Managing Artistic Director Sam Scalamoni. "Through continual generous donations from the family, friends and colleagues of Harry Berkheiser, we are pleased to be able to continue this scholarship for young people who show a true commitment and dedication to these branches of the arts." Mr. Berkheiser passed away on October 9, 2007.

Skyline Theatre Company is Bergen County's professional theatre company that brings professional artists from New York City to produce Broadway style musicals and plays. In its ninth season, STC is now performing exclusively at the Fair Lawn Community Center/George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation. Skyline Theatre Company is a proud associate member of the prestigious New Jersey Theatre Alliance, and is comprised of a diverse group of artists, business people and educators who are committed to bringing high quality theatre and arts programs to Bergen County.

Applications for the Harry K. Berkheiser Scholarship must be returned to Skyline Theatre Company via US mail by March 15th of each year and addressed to; Scholarship Committee, Skyline Theatre Company, PO Box 1115, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410-8115. Contributions to secure the longevity of this valuable scholarship may be sent to STC at the same address.
