Paper Mill Playhouse Presents BALLROOM WITH A TWIST, 4/28-29

Ballroom with a Twist-- conceived and choreographed by Dancing with the Stars' Emmy-nominated Louis Van Amstel-- will offer two performances at the Millburn theater tonight, April 28 and tomorrow, April 29, 2012.

Watching the cha-cha rattle on the television screen is one thing, but getting up close and live beneath the fringe, sequins, and booming sounds of rumba bass is a whole other experience. Ballroom with a Twist brings a frenzy of sizzling dance moves by professional international dancers spanning the hot moves of samba, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, and jive. As if the jaw-dropping dancers aren't enough to keep you ogling at smooth moves and high kicks, your favorite American Idol finalists will also be joining the bill with their powerhouse hit songs. Ballroom with a Twist gives audiences thrills with its varieties of music providing a concert soundtrack to the evening.

Ballroom with a Twist is a critically acclaimed international dance production conceived and choreographed by ABC-TVs Dancing with the Stars, Emmy nominated, Louis Van Amstel. This groundbreaking show, starring Dancing with the Stars celebrity pros Alec Mazo and Edyta Sliwinska, finalists from TV's So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol singers David Hernandez (Season 7) and Gina Glocksen (Season 6), pushes the boundaries of ballroom dance, infusing it with the energy and intensity of the latest contemporary and hip-hop styles. Ballroom with a Twist is an evening of entertainment for the entire family, highlighted by stunning costumes, magnificent music and breathtaking performances.

Emmy-nominated choreographer, international world champion and consummate professional, Louis Van Amstel has devoted his life towards perfecting his craft. Louis first began his Dancesport career training in a theatre school where he gained a background in ballet, tap, and jazz while simultaneously engaging in rigorous competitions. Upon graduating, Louis attended the University of the Arts in Amsterdam to enhance his skills in the classical dances and theory. Louis has been in the world of Dancesport for nearly two decades now. Additionally, he appeared in guest roles on several hit TV shows, most notably The Suite Life With Zack and Cody (Alexander the Great) and All My Children (Himself). Most prominently, Louis has been featured in Seasons 1-3 of Dancing with the Stars; a show that has become a pop culture phenomenon in both the US and abroad. Louis' success led him to serve as creative director, choreographer, and performer in the Dancing with the Stars Touring Show which has performed in cities across the US and Canada.
