PIPPIN Opens 9/7 at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre

The Pennington Players have "Magic to Do" as they present the Tony Award-winning musical "Pippin" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Performances are Fridays, Sept. 7 and 14 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Sept. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Sept. 7.

Featuring music by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of "Wicked" and "Godspell," "Pippin" is the lively coming-of-age story of King Charlemagne's oldest son, a young prince searching for the meaning and significance of his life, all the while guided by the conniving hand of the Leading Player. Audiences will follow Pippin through adventures of war, sex, politics and love, as he begins to discover what it truly means to be extraordinary in our world. Full of dance, passion, and iconic music, "Pippin" is the ultimate theatrical experience that will leave audiences debating the boundaries that are crossed for love.

The show stars Kyrus Keenan Westcott of Hamilton as the Leading Player; Dominick Sannelli of Levittown, PA as Pippin; Tom Bessellieu of Lawrenceville as Charlemagne; Jaimie Geddes of Marlton as Fastrada; J. Scott of Allentown as Lewis; Alison McMullen of Ewing as Catherine; Dasha Eisenhauer of Ewing as Theo, and Eve Connolly of Lawrenceville as Berthe.

Featured dancers are Heather Santos of East Windsor and Elissa Zavodnick of Newtown, PA. Cast in the role of the "Players" are: David Catalano of Cranbury, Dan Golazeski of Ewing, Julie McNamara of Princeton, DeHaven Rogers of Hamilton, Ellen Rothfuss of Roosevelt, Natalie Schaffer of Holland, PA, and Rachel Tovar of Hamilton. Members of the children's chorus include: Dee Danis of Monroe Township, Elizabeth Ferrara of West Windsor, Charlotte Gougher of Newtown, PA, Daniel Kaplan of Robbinsville, Lara Koppel of East Windsor, Hudson Orfe of Titusville, and Nicky Torchia of Langhorne, PA.

The show is produced by Jenn Gregg of Ewing and directed by Frank Ferrara of West Windsor, with musical direction by Shannon Ferrara of West Windsor. The show is choreographed by Nicole Machin of Robbinsville and stage managed by Eliza Burwell of Hopewell, with technical direction and lighting design by Judi Parrish of Ewing, and set design by Bryan Schendlinger of Levittown, PA.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $14 for students and children. For tickets, call the Kelsey Theatre Box Office at 609-570-3333, or visit www.kelseytheatre.net. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible, with free parking available next to the theater.
