As part of its efforts to teach and understand the concepts and lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides, the Mercer County Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center presents "From the Warsaw Ghetto to Darfur: Photos, Text and Commentaries" at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College. The exhibit opens Tuesday, Oct. 12 and runs through Friday, Nov. 5. The Gallery is located on the college's West Windsor campus, on the second floor of the CM Building, 1200 old Trenton Road.

The exhibit features a series of powerful photographs taken in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II, displayed courtesy of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. Also featured are Jerry Casciano's post-war photographs of concentration camps and survivors, with accompanying commentaries.

Another group of photographs, on loan from Doctors Without Borders pediatrician Jerry Ehrlich, M.D., were taken in the refugee camps of Darfur during Dr. Ehrlich's service there in 2004. Drawings by children of the camps are also included.
An opening reception takes place Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m. Both Dr. Ehrlich and Mr. Casciano will be on hand to speak about their experiences and photo projects.
Gallery hours are Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional hours are available by special arrangement. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

Another event in October is the showing of the Oscar Award-winning film, "The Pianist" (2002), on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. in the Mercer County Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center. The center is located on the second floor of the Library Building next to the MCCC Book Store on the West Windsor campus.

Regular Holocaust Center hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesdays, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Materials for use and loan include books, videos and CDs.
