Mercer County Community College (MCCC) and Princeton Senior Resource Center (PSRC) invite the community to "Lights! Camera! Fashion!", a celebration of fashion, film and photography on Friday, May 10 at the MCCC Conference Center, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, N.J. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., with a showing of the documentary "Bill Cunningham New York" at 7 p.m.

This joint benefit event will celebrate MCCC Fashion and Photography students, as well as fashion-savvy active adults from the greater Mercer County area. The evening will feature original designs by students in MCCC's new Fashion/Apparel Design program, which is housed at the college's Trenton Hall, along with the new Fashion Merchandizing program. Both are coordinated by faculty member Allegra Ceci.

Special guests for the evening include honorary event chairs Pamela Hughes of the Institute for Advanced Study and her husband, Mercer County Executive BrIan Hughes. New Jersey-based fashion designers Ray Brown of Trenton and Tammy Duffy of Hamilton, both of whom are graduates of Mercer, will also participate.

In addition to fashions by MCCC's budding designers, MCCC Photography students will exhibit fashion photography taken in New York City under the direction of Associate Professor of Photography Michael Dalton and Princeton photographer David Kelly Crow.

"We are excited to partner with PSRC as we celebrate the first graduates of the new fashion program at Mercer and their collaboration with our photography students," said MCCC President Patricia C. Donohue. She notes that photography courses will also be offered at the Trenton campus beginning in the fall.

At 7 p.m. guests will be invited to view the first-ever Mercer County showing of the 82-minute award-winning documentary "Bill Cunningham New York." This fascinating film tells the story of the iconic 84-year-old fashion photographer Bill Cunningham, known for his photography in The New York Times' Sunday Style section.

"Holding an intergenerational event with MCCC is a perfect collaboration for PSRC, where someone like Bill Cunningham can inspire the next generation of photographers and designers," said Susan Hoskins, PSRC's executive director. "Here at PSRC we are inspired every day by the enthusiastic and energetic men and women who attend our programs," she added.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be served. A brief presentation at 6:15 p.m. will showcase fashion designs created by Mercer students.

Tickets are $20, with a discounted price of $50 for a family of three. (Tickets for MCCC students are $10.) Proceeds from the event will jointly benefit PSRC and MCCC.
