Children and families who enjoy turning the ordinary into the extraordinary will enjoy Theatreworks/USA's new children's musical, "Martha Speaks," coming to Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 6, with shows at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

"Martha Speaks" is based on a book series by Susan Meddaugh and the PBS TV series by the same name.  Martha is an ordinary dog until the day she eats a bowl full of alphabet soup. Something unusual happens: all those letters travel to Martha's brain instead of down to her stomach, and she becomes outspoken - literally!

Life with a talking dog can be lots of fun… especially when she calls a radio station and wins an all-expense-paid family vacation. But when the official award notice arrives in the mail, it contains Martha's least favorite words: "no dogs allowed!" Will her family go on vacation without her?  This doggone funny "tail" is sure to delight audiences!

The New York-based Theatreworks/USA is America's largest nonprofit theater for young audiences.  Since 1961, they have enlightened, entertained, and instructed over 78 million people in 49 states and Canada.  Under the direction of Barbara Pasternack and Ken ArthurTheatreworks/USA is the only children's theater to receive both a Drama Desk and a Lucille Lortel Award.

Tickets are $10 for all ages and may be purchased online at www.kelseytheatre.net or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333.  Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible and free parking is available next to the theater.
