Three of Stan and Jan Berenstain's most popular children's books are blended in a new, fun-filled musical coming to Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Matt Murphy Productions, in special arrangement with TheatreworksUSA, presents "The Berenstain Bears in Family Matters, The Musical" Saturday, April 30 at 2 and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

There's trouble brewing in the Berenstain Family tree house. Papa Bear can't stop eating junk food, Brother Bear's grades are slipping, and Sister Bear still has lots to learn about talking to strangers. Thankfully, they can always depend on Mama Bear and her loving patience to help make things right. This is one tree house where family truly matters! Told primarily through song and dance, the bears offer valuable lessons to young audiences drawn from "The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers," "The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food," and "The Berenstain Bears' Trouble at School."

Featuring music, book, and lyrics by Michael Borton, the production premiered at Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia in Spring, 2009. For the national tour, produced by Matt Murphy Productions, Theatreworks/USA's Michael Slade, co-author of "Superfudge" and "Lyle Lyle Crocodile," joined the production team, along with the staging and design team behind Theatreworks' hit show "Junie B. Jones." After a brief New York City area tour in 2010, "The Berenstain Bears" began its national tour in the fall.
TheatreworksUSA is America's largest and most prolific professional not-for-profit theatre for youth and family audiences. Since 1961, it has enlightened, entertained and instructed more than 78 million people in 49 states and Canada.
