Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Plays MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre 5/13-15

Con-artists Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson are up to no good on the French Riviera. Maurer Productions Onstage presents the hit musical "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre Fridays, May 13 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, May 14 and 21 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, May 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening performance on May 13.

A chance meeting on a train brings together two very different schemers whose targets are nonetheless the same -- unsuspecting women with lots of money! Jameson is suave, sophisticated and quite successful at his high-end con game, while Freddy is a boorish small-time crook. It doesn't take long before the two decide the French Riviera is not big enough for both of them and decide to settle the situation with a wager. Whoever is first to swindle $50,000 from a young heiress wins the bet and the loser leaves town. With lyrics and music by David Yazbek, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" delivers laughs, surprises and double-crossings galore that all adds up to a great time at the theater.

Other cast members include Scott Karlin, of Plainsboro, as Andre Thibault; Cathy Liebars, of Langhorne, Pa., as Muriel Eubanks, Jennifer Barron, of Hamilton, as Jolene Oakes; Jessica Laynor, of Ewing, as Lenore; and Amy Slothower, of Plainsboro, as Sophia.

Also featured are Sarah McIlhenny, oF Browns Mills, as the Maid; Sharon Underberg, of Belle Mead, as the Nun; Rosie Karlin, of Plainsboro, as the Usherette; Wendy Watt, of Hamilton, as Renee; Melissa Geerlof, of Hamilton, as the Debutant; Judy Berwick, of Lawrenceville, as the Croupier; Dan Slothower, of Plainsboro, as the Conductor; John Ragazzo, of East Windsor, as the Waiter/Bellhop; Ray Murphy, of Hamilton Square, as the Hotel Manager; Tim Kline, of Ewing, as the Musician/Bellhop; and Joshua Waldorf, of Yardley, Pa., as Nikos.
