The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony for the Mercer County Photography Exhibit takes place Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at The Gallery at Mercer County Community College, 2nd floor of the Communication building, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The exhibit runs through December 19.

Juror Ricardo Barros has selected 51 works by 38 of the county's talented photographers, as well as the award winners. (Sixty-eight photographers submitted a total of 184 works.) The Mercer County Photography exhibit is open to any photographer 18 or older who lives, works or studies in Mercer County.
Winners will be announced at the Opening Reception. Prizes include Best in Show, two Juror's Choices Awards and six Honorable Mentions. Purchase Awards from the Mercer County Culture and Heritage Commission, selected by representatives of the commission, will also be presented, as well as the Princeton Photography Club Prize.

Almost a third of the photographers who submitted work (22) were newcomers to this biennial exhibition. Ten of them were chosen to exhibit their work. "That's what we hope to see," Gallery Curator Tricia Fagan says. "This exhibit provides opportunities for emerging photographers as well as those who show their work more regularly. It's a real thrill for the newcomers."
This biennial exhibit is a partnership between the MCCC Gallery and the Mercer County Culture and Heritage Commission. The Commission provides support for the exhibit with through funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State (a partner of the National Endowment for the Arts) and from the County of Mercer, County Executive Brian M. Hughes, and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Regular Gallery hours are Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
