The Legend Continues as pop music's #1 female vocalist from the late 1950's to the mid-1960's, New Jersey born Connie Francis comes home to the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on Saturday, April 4th.

Connie Francis recorded 16 top ten hits, including "Who's Sorry Now", which soared to #4 on the pop charts, "Lipstick on Your Collar" and her signature hit, "Where The Boys Are".

Born Concetta Franconero in Newark, New Jersey, she started her music career playing the accordion at age three. By ten, she was accepted on Startime, a New York City television show that featured talented child singers and performers. The show's producer advised her to concentrate on singing, as well as change her name to something easier to pronounce.

16-year-old Francis signed a record contract with MGM and "Freddy" was released in June 1955 as the singer's first single. In 1957, a cover recording of the classic "Who's Sorry Now" soared to #4 on the pop charts and had Dick Clark declare her "a new girl singer that is heading straight for the number one spot."

"Who's Sorry Now" was the first of Francis' long string of worldwide hits. By 1967, she had sold 35 million worldwide, with 35 U.S. Top 40 hits, and three number ones.

In addition to recording and touring, Francis starred in four films, sang voice-overs in movies and was a guest star on numerous TV shows.

Don't miss this sensational show Connie Francis...The Legend Continues at the Basie on April 4th. The Count Basie Theatre is located at 99 Monmouth Street in Red Bank. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $75, $55 and $35. Limited VIP tickets are available for $100. Tickets are available by calling the Count Basie Theatre box office at (732) 842-9000 or online at www.countbasietheatre.org.
