Clea Alsip and More Join Mark Linn-Baker in George Street Playhouse's ONE SLIGHT HITCH; Full Cast Announced!

Casting-Announced-for-George-Street-Playhouses-ONE-SLIGHT-HITCH-20010101

George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced that full casting for their 2012-13 season opener, One Slight Hitch, has been completed. Joining the previously-announced Mark Linn-Baker will be Clea Alsip, Rosie Benton, Lauren Ashley Carter, Scott Drummond, Lizbeth MacKay and Christopher Tocco. Helmed by Joe Grifasi, this tale of matrimonial mayhem will begin performances Tuesday, October 2 and continue through Sunday, October 28. Opening night, with a dessert reception sponsored by Stage Left and Catherine Lombardi restaurants, will be Friday, October 5.

It is the summer of 1981 and nerves and neuroses are running at a fever pitch in the Coleman household as Cincinnati’s Doc and Delia Coleman prepare to throw the lavish wedding they never had for their oldest daughter. As the title implies, one slight hitch threatens to throw a monkey wrench into their meticulous plans. One Slight Hitch is a riotous and strangely romantic ride through the deconstruction of one family’s equilibrium.

Mark Linn-Baker (Doc Coleman) recently appeared on Broadway in Relatively Speaking. Other credits include A Year With Frog and Toad, and the television series Perfect Strangers. Clea Alsip originated the role of Melanie, the sister of the bride, at Williamstown Theatre Festival, and can be seen on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Rosie Benton’s (Courtney) Broadway credits include the recent production of StickFly and Les Liasons Dangereuses. Lauren Ashley Carter (P.B. Coleman) can be seen in the motion picture Premium Rush. Scott Drummond (Harper) is known to George Street audiences as Juror Two in last season’s Twelve Angry Men and has also appeared in Hamlet at Theatre for a New Audience. Lizbeth MacKay (Delia Coleman) is a stage veteran whose credits include the recent Sons of the Prophet as well as Crimes of the Heart. Christopher Tocco’s theatrical credits include War Music and A Christmas Carol at American Conservatory Theater (ACT), as well as The Lion in Winter and The Importance of Being Earnest at the Dorset Theatre Festival.

Creating the world of One Slight Hitch will be scenic designer Bob Dahlstrom, costume designer Susan Hilferty, lighting designer Rui Rita and sound designer Christopher J. Bailey.

Joe Grifasi’s (Director) Broadway credits as both director and actor include Dinner at Eight, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Happy End, The Accidental Death of an Anarchist, The 1940’s Radio Hour. Off-Broadway credits include Conversations in Tusculum, The Boys Next Door (Drama Desk nomination), Once Around the City and Golden Boy. His work has been seen on regional stages around the country, including the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Stratford Festival, Trinity Rep, Goodman Theater, Long Wharf, Yale Rep, Weston Playhouse and Westport Country Playhouse. He has appeared in the films Presumed Innocent, The Deer Hunter, Big Business, Beaches, Matewan, Naked Gun, Natural Born Killers, Chances Are, One Fine Day, F/X, Benny & Joon, The Pope of Greenwich Village, Brewster’s Millions, Batman Forever, The Flamingo Kid, Ironweed and Splash. Television appearances include the TV movie The Bronx is Burning (as Yogi Berra), Law & Order, ER, LA Law, Hope and Faith, SCTV, Roseanne and The Practice.
