Auditions for NJ Rep's NOIR to be Held 2/1

Auditions-for-NJ-Reps-NOIR-to-be-Held-21-20010101

The New Jersey Repertory Company will hold auditions for their upcoming original play by Stan Werse on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Ripley-Grier in NYC by appointment only.

For an audition appointment, script, and sides, please mail njrep@njrep.org. No phone calls please.

Callbacks are set to be held on Friday, February 8 at NJ Rep in Long Branch.

Those auditioning must hold an SPT Tier 4 contract with AEA plus Health and Pension. Housing provided for out of area actors. Non-Equity Actors are also welcome to audition and non-traditional casting is encouraged.

Rehearsals will begin on or about March 12, 2013, with performances set April 4 - May 5, 2013.

NOIR is a world premiere by Stan Werse, and directed by Marc Geller.

Clay Holden has his first big chance as a detective ... but this is one case that he may not want to solve. "Noir" is a classic morality tale of loyalty and betrayal set amongst The Shadows and back alleys of 1950's New York City.

NJ Rep is looking for four, strong actors who really understand the snappy, dead pan, Film Noir style for the roles of:

CLAY HOLDEN: 25 to 30. Off beat, edgy. A young and idealistic, newly-minted police detective. Sure of what's right and sure of what's wrong.

NORBERT GRIMES: 50 to 60. Thin with beady eyes. Cynical, opinionated and tough.

McQUE: 40 to 50. Tall. A big man with muscles turning to fat. Comes off as affable and good-natured. Plays dumb, but isn't. The precinct's resident enforcer.

HELEN LYDECKER: 30 - 35. The classic Noir femme fatale. Beautiful, smart and rich. But her gorgeous face has a patina of sadness. She knows what she wants and she gets it. The ability to sing is helpful.
